SAT Prep for Daniel Hand High School, Madison, CT
Since we work with students for SAT prep from New Haven to
Hartford to Stonington, we are in a good position to understand the strength of
students from various schools in the region.
As such, we are often asked which school possesses the strongest
students. The students from Daniel Hand
High School in Madison, CT are always in the discussion.
Certainly, the
socio-economic level of Madison’s affluent
population enables the student body to have educational advantages. But, there is also something about Madison –
for better or worse – that we have noticed when we meet students in our
SAT
classes. The students embrace
competition.
Of course, that is a big generality. With that said, we think that many students from Daniel Hand would agree (and we are sure that we are not spilling any secrets by suggesting that students from neighboring Shoreline, CT towns would agree wholeheartedly!).

Let me explain why this
competitive spirit is a good
thing. The economic plight of our
country will unfortunately be very tough on this teen generation. They will face a world of competition that
most living Americans have never faced.
The last really tough generation was the World War II crowd. Tom Brokaw’s nickname for them - “The
Greatest Generation” - stems, in part, from their willingness to step up
into
the biggest competition the world ever faced.
While we do realize the
strains of dealing with overly
competitive people, the toughness that competition hones is a good
thing. When we work with students from Daniel
Hand
in our SAT courses, they grumble less than others over their SAT
homework, seem
to understand the big picture for why they are memorizing SAT vocabulary
words,
and are more willing to work through SAT math (even if they realize
they’ll
never need to do algebra again!).
The level of competition within Daniel Hand provides another reason why the SAT is so valuable to students from Madison. Students from Daniel Hand have class ranks that suffer from deflation. Specifically, due to the very high number of smart students in Madison, students have class ranks that are artificially low.
Since class rank is vital to the admissions process (take a look at US News & World Report), the SAT becomes at least one way for Madison students to demonstrate their academic prowess.
We hope that students from Daniel Hand High School in Madison, CT choose The Learning Consultants for SAT Prep.
